Travel all over the country and always like to listen to the radio while i’m away.
I bought this little radio after having owned a few others that didn’t come up to scratch and found it awesome.
Perfectly clear sound whether its in the house playing through the speaker or in my pocket playing through headphones as i’m out and about.
It really is the best personal audio player i’ve ever owned (and i’ve owned a lot).
DAB reception awesome!!

I just acquired this little personal radio as a replacement for my E-TEN 100. I have tried a few others, but this one really performs beyond the others.

Pro’s:
- reception quality in both DAB and FM; far superior to the E-TEN and the Pure 1500. I am living in an area with limited DAB stations and a weak network, but experienced only very few signal droppings.
- user interface to select different stations, jogwheel is nice to operate, although the direction of the wheel is counter intuitive (up should be down)
- extra loud speaker so you can listen without earphone
- size of the radio is nice and small, without lossing grip
- overall sound quality when listening with my shure headphone is well above average

Con’s (and therefore a 4 star i.s.o. 5)
- no adjustment of treble / bass
- it would have been nice to also be supplied with a non-UK powerplug / adapter

This is an nifty little DAB radio. We have it in the kitchen and the reception is extremely good on all the major stations (plus a few extra ones I do not really listen to!). It can pick up all of the BBC stations; sport is especially well catered for on all of the Radio 5 stations (crystal clear, without the Medium Wave crackle and pop), 6 Music is a brilliant alternative station for people who are serious about their music. The sound from such a small radio has a nice tone and it can be turned up to a surprisingly loud volume without distortion. The display panel is limited but still informative e.g. it displays programme title, programme information, “song now playing”, news and, if your tuned into sport, it even displays the cricket scores and football results! I bought this radio for my wife for a Christmas present and I was so impressed with it that I bought one for myself to use in my garden shed whilst pottering about. When you first switch it on it searches for all the digital radio stations that can be found in your area. You can then assign these stations to one of 5 buttons, pressing another button lets you set another 5 presets making 10 in all – plenty for me. The sound is great – clear and sharp. Separate treble and bass buttons alow you to make the adjustments you need for your own personal ear. The 9.5 x 2cm display has various settings including a streamed display of the current programme. Tuning is by pressing the “up” and “down” buttons to go through the programmes stored on the radio or by a tuning knob. The radio looks classy with a black finish and blue display (there are other colour versions). I haven’t yet used the radio on battery, but Roberts claim 150 hours battery life which seems a long time to me. Sorry that I can’t confirm this yet. Overall you can buy this with confidence that you will be getting a good looking radio that sounds great.

Review

I needed a small DAB radio with good reception and output and this is just what I’ve got. It provides excellent coverage with virtually no aerial extension where we live in Somerset and has performed equally well on a caravan site in south Devon. Simple to use and does most of the hard work for you. I like the idea of using rechargeable batteries and having them recharged, in situ, by just using the mains transformer from time to time. What would I have liked – an alarm function, but I knew it didn’t have it, so this is just me being greedy.
